Alexion Earnings, Revenue Beat in Q1

Alexion announced earnings per share of $3.22 on revenue of $1.44B. Analysts polled by Investing.com anticipated EPS of $2.7 on revenue of $1.36B. That with comparison to EPS of $2.39 on revenue of $1.14B in the same period a year before. Alexion had reported EPS of $2.71 on revenue of $1.38B in the previous quarter. Analysts are expecting EPS of $2.71 and revenue of $1.37B in the upcoming quarter.

Alexion shares are down 9.15% from the beginning of the year , still down 28.56% from its 52 week high of $137.52 set on May 6, 2019. They are outperforming the S&P 500 which is down 11.6% year to date.

Alexion’s report follows an earnings beat by J&J on April 14, who reported EPS of $2.3 on revenue of $20.69B, compared to forecasts EPS of $2.02 on revenue of $19.73B.

Pfizer had beat expectations on April 28 with first quarter EPS of $0.8 on revenue of $12.03B, compared to forecast for EPS of $0.73 on revenue of $11.81B.
