Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 3.64%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 3.64%, while the MDAX index declined 2.66%, and the TecDAX index declined 2.10%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which fell 0.94% or 1.325 points to trade at 140.075 at the close. Meanwhile, SAP SE (DE:SAPG) fell 1.31% or 1.420 points to end at 106.710 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) was down 1.46% or 1.315 points to 88.710 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which fell 9.25% or 11.50 points to trade at 112.80 at the close. Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) declined 7.42% or 15.53 points to end at 193.82 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was down 7.37% or 1.253 points to 15.742.

The top performers on the MDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 1.82% to 40.32, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 1.03% to settle at 44.95 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 0.73% to close at 46.860.

The worst performers were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was down 13.82% to 5.240 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 8.41% to settle at 6.15 and Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 8.05% to 58.85 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 1.82% to 40.32, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was up 1.50% to settle at 20.34 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which gained 1.13% to close at 152.30.

The worst performers were Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 7.94% to 15.910 in late trade, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which lost 7.37% to settle at 15.742 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 7.20% to 70.250 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 560 to 137 and 42 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.99% to 40.30.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.66% or 11.20 to $1712.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.37% or 0.27 to hit $20.05 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.09 to trade at $26.53 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.0900, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8768.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 99.618.
