Key Words: Stephen Colbert tells President Trump to ‘grow up and do your damn job’

“What is wrong with him? … You know what? Who gives a s—?”

That was Stephen Colbert losing his patience — and his temper — while discussing what he called President Trump’s daily “hissy fits” during his “Late Show” broadcast from home on Tuesday night.

Colbert showed clips from Trump’s Tuesday coronavirus press briefing, where the president called ABC News’ Jonathan Karl a “third-rate reporter” who will “never make it” for asking about the Department of Health and Human Services inspector general’s report flagging severe supply shortages in hospitals. Trump also admonished Fox News reporter Kristin Fisher for asking him about the continued lag in COVID-19 testing, saying, “You should say, ‘Congratulations, great job’ instead of being so horrid in the way you ask a question.”

“Trump doesn’t understand that no one cares about these hissy fits anymore,” Colbert said. “All of the drama no longer plays to the camera, sir, not even to your own supporters. Because it doesn’t matter who you voted for. Everyone just wants to know the truth, because that’s how you stay alive.”

“So grow up and do your damn job! We have to. You should, too.”

Colbert then took a deep breath and asked, “Is it still Tuesday? OK.”
