Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 3.58%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 3.58%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Mayne Pharma Group Ltd (ASX:MYX), which rose 17.74% or 0.055 points to trade at 0.365 at the close. Meanwhile, Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:SKC) added 17.65% or 0.30 points to end at 2.00 and AP Eagers Ltd (ASX:APE) was up 14.85% or 0.45 points to 3.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wisetech Global Ltd (ASX:WTC), which fell 7.02% or 1.20 points to trade at 15.90 at the close. Reliance Worldwide Corporation Ltd (ASX:RWC) declined 6.15% or 0.16 points to end at 2.44 and Jumbo Interactive Ltd (ASX:JIN) was down 5.63% or 0.53 points to 8.88.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 807 to 356 and 253 ended unchanged.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 14.42% to 40.766.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.17% or 2.65 to $1593.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.56% or 0.32 to hit $20.16 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.72% or 0.98 to trade at $25.37 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 1.06% to 0.6070, while AUD/JPY fell 1.05% to 65.28.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 99.395.
