Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 3.68%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 3.68%, while the MDAX index declined 3.77%, and the TecDAX index lost 3.31%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG), which rose 1.19% or 0.410 points to trade at 34.875 at the close. Meanwhile, Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) added 0.38% or 0.220 points to end at 57.760 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) was down 0.36% or 0.26 points to 71.64 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Covestro AG (DE:1COV), which fell 8.11% or 2.400 points to trade at 27.200 at the close. Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) declined 7.88% or 2.330 points to end at 27.255 and Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (DE:DPWGn) was down 7.77% or 1.882 points to 22.328.

The top performers on the MDAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which rose 2.31% to 6.9200, CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was up 1.89% to settle at 41.000 and TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which gained 1.74% to close at 34.50.

The worst performers were Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was down 9.94% to 22.570 in late trade, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which lost 9.25% to settle at 4.612 and Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 9.16% to 50.55 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which rose 7.93% to 177.00, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 1.74% to settle at 34.50 and Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which gained 1.27% to close at 64.000.

The worst performers were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 9.06% to 125.95 in late trade, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which lost 8.81% to settle at 16.45 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 7.80% to 83.950 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 546 to 159 and 34 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 8.65% to 62.19.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.74% or 28.70 to $1622.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 6.50% or 1.47 to hit $21.13 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 5.85% or 1.54 to trade at $24.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.64% to 1.1099, while EUR/GBP fell 1.19% to 0.8928.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 98.765.
