Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.28%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.28%, while the MDAX index climbed 3.20%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.93%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:MTXGn), which rose 12.05% or 16.25 points to trade at 151.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 6.29% or 2.275 points to end at 38.455 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 4.42% or 0.392 points to 9.253 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which fell 2.87% or 3.000 points to trade at 101.500 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.48% or 0.095 points to end at 6.338 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was down 1.03% or 1.18 points to 113.70.

The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (DE:AIRG) which rose 20.67% to 72.50, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 9.57% to settle at 91.050 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 8.56% to close at 53.000.

The worst performers were Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which was down 3.55% to 18.045 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which lost 2.64% to settle at 43.500 and Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 2.51% to 6.7640 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which rose 11.91% to 18.04, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 9.57% to settle at 91.050 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which gained 8.56% to close at 53.000.

The worst performers were New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 4.65% to 164.00 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 3.04% to settle at 7.505 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 2.87% to 101.500 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 436 to 264 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in New Work SE (DE:NWOn) fell to 3-years lows; losing 4.65% or 8.00 to 164.00.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.28% to 57.24.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.10% or 17.95 to $1651.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 8.04% or 1.97 to hit $22.52 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 4.45% or 1.22 to trade at $26.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.36% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP fell 0.75% to 0.9087.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.31% at 99.670.
