President Donald Trump is meeting airline and other industry representatives on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump has a packed schedule of coronavirus meetings Wednesday including with airline-company executives, as his administration signals its backing for a bailout of the industry.

The president will hold a phone call with airline chiefs, as well as with physicians. He will also take part in a briefing with nurses at the White House.

Early Wednesday Trump announced via Twitter he is closing the U.S. border with Canada to nonessential traffic, but said that trade won’t be affected.

He is also planning a news conference and said he would discuss “very important news from the FDA” regarding the coronavirus.

Volatility in U.S. stocks remained sharply elevated Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -5.81%   sliding more than 1,000 points.
