Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.77%, while the index climbed 0.85%.

The best performers of the session on the were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:), which rose 5.08% or 109.35 points to trade at 2262.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) added 2.15% or 36.05 points to end at 1713.50 and Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.85% or 350.75 points to 19360.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.48% or 1.65 points to trade at 35.20 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:) declined 1.47% or 3.65 points to end at 245.15 and State Bank Of India (NS:) was down 1.22% or 3.95 points to 320.40.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which rose 5.00% to 2260.45, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.24% to settle at 1714.75 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.84% to close at 16289.75.

The worst performers were State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 1.34% to 320.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 1.16% to settle at 1277.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.96% to 414.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 947 to 578 and 90 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1448 fell and 936 advanced, while 168 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS:) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.08% or 109.35 to 2262.00. Shares in Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) rose to all time highs; rising 5.00% or 107.65 to 2260.45.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.86% to 13.6225 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.02% or 0.35 to $1570.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.52% or 0.76 to hit $50.70 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 1.04 to trade at $55.05 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.09% to 71.347, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 77.9005.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 98.602.
