Investing.com – Germany stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher while losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the lost 0.02%, while the index gained 0.22%, and the index climbed 0.84%.

The best performers of the session on the were Wirecard AG (DE:), which rose 5.36% or 6.500 points to trade at 127.700 at the close. Meanwhile, RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:) added 2.11% or 0.620 points to end at 30.040 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:) was up 1.37% or 3.80 points to 281.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:), which fell 1.48% or 2.70 points to trade at 179.92 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:) declined 1.43% or 1.68 points to end at 115.56 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:) was down 1.41% or 1.020 points to 71.170.

The top performers on the MDAX were Varta AG (DE:) which rose 6.44% to 87.600, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which was up 5.53% to settle at 24.250 and Grand City Properties SA (DE:) which gained 2.60% to close at 22.08.

The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:) which was down 2.24% to 44.870 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:) which lost 1.73% to settle at 2.730 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:) which was down 1.72% to 25.200 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Varta AG (DE:) which rose 6.44% to 87.600, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which was up 5.53% to settle at 24.250 and Wirecard AG (DE:) which gained 5.36% to close at 127.700.

The worst performers were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:) which was down 2.24% to 44.870 in late trade, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:) which lost 1.73% to settle at 2.730 and Freenet AG NA (DE:) which was down 1.46% to 20.250 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 406 to 270 and 71 ended unchanged.

Shares in RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.11% or 0.620 to 30.040. Shares in MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:) rose to all time highs; up 1.37% or 3.80 to 281.00.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.27% to 12.24.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.19% or 2.95 to $1551.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.47% or 0.85 to hit $58.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.16% or 0.74 to trade at $64.74 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1137, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.8518.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.060.
