India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.33%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.33%, while the index climbed 0.36%.

The best performers of the session on the were Coal India Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.28% or 6.50 points to trade at 205.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tata Motors Ltd (NS:) added 1.17% or 2.25 points to end at 196.35 and Infosys Ltd (NS:) was up 1.71% or 12.45 points to 738.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 4.97% or 2.35 points to trade at 44.75 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 3.49% or 9.50 points to end at 263.00 and ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:) was down 1.13% or 6.15 points to 540.25.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.27% to 196.40, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which was up 1.89% to settle at 81.00 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.47% to close at 738.25.

The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 5.29% to 44.80 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.11% to settle at 540.25 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.11% to 1490.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 869 to 674 and 86 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1358 rose and 1076 declined, while 160 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.57% to 14.0775.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 4.45 to $1549.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.32% or 0.19 to hit $59.37 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.26% or 0.17 to trade at $65.20 a barrel.

USD/INR was down 0.32% to 70.971, while EUR/INR fell 0.43% to 78.7300.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.245.
