Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the lost 0.45%, while the index declined 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:), which rose 1.89% or 8.20 points to trade at 444.60 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) added 1.47% or 8.45 points to end at 585.05 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.01% or 43.35 points to 2200.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which fell 5.56% or 16.10 points to trade at 273.70 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:) declined 2.27% or 40.65 points to end at 1751.40 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:) was down 2.58% or 6.55 points to 248.15.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.08% to 444.40, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.99% to settle at 2200.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.66% to close at 582.95.

The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which was down 2.19% to 78.00 in late trade, Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.16% to settle at 1751.65 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 1.90% to 742.90 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 816 to 745 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1209 fell and 1203 advanced, while 172 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 10.49% to 12.6950.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.46% or 22.35 to $1550.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.25% or 2.60 to hit $63.78 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 4.39% or 2.91 to trade at $69.16 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.61% to 71.778, while EUR/INR rose 0.25% to 79.9030.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 96.740.
