At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 1.25%, while the index lost 0.55%, and the index fell 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the were Merck KGaA (DE:), which rose 1.18% or 1.25 points to trade at 107.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Wirecard AG (DE:) added 0.44% or 0.500 points to end at 112.900 and Vonovia SE (DE:) was up 0.37% or 0.18 points to 48.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:), which fell 6.65% or 1.110 points to trade at 15.570 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:) declined 2.66% or 1.740 points to end at 63.720 and Linde PLC (DE:) was down 2.50% or 4.750 points to 185.300.
The top performers on the MDAX were Puma SE (DE:) which rose 1.49% to 68.20, Deutsche Wohnen AG (DE:) which was up 1.18% to settle at 36.970 and Alstria Office Reit-Ag (DE:) which gained 0.90% to close at 16.780.
The worst performers were Grenke N AG (DE:) which was down 4.41% to 91.00 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:) which lost 3.82% to settle at 88.520 and Fraport AG (DE:) which was down 3.76% to 72.660 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Wirecard AG (DE:) which rose 0.44% to 112.900, Qiagen NV (DE:) which was up 0.43% to settle at 30.580 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) which gained 0.41% to close at 61.600.
The worst performers were RIB Software AG Na (DE:) which was down 5.53% to 20.860 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:) which lost 3.82% to settle at 88.520 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which was down 3.46% to 23.140 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 458 to 223 and 69 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.41% or 0.250 to 61.600.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.55% or 23.65 to $1551.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.52% or 1.54 to hit $62.72 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 3.06% or 2.03 to trade at $68.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.475.
