Karma Automotive revealed a high-performance version of the Revero GT at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Dubbed the Revero GTS, this luxurious electric sedan, which has an onboard range-extending generator, features many performance upgrades. Karma says the new Revero GTS hits 60 mph in “less than 3.9 seconds,” and has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph.
“The Karma Revero GTS is a special continuation of the success of our definitive luxury electric Revero GT,” says Lance Zhou, Karma CEO. “The GTS offers enhanced performance for the driving enthusiast, adding diversity to our growing product range.”
The Karma Revero
Modifications to the Revero GTS include electronic torque vectoring and an upgraded exterior with carbon-fiber trim. The interior is enhanced, too, with Soloscape audio technology developed in-house by Karma and steering wheel switches that provide haptic feedback.
Two motors, no waiting
As in the Revero GT, the new 2020 Karma Revero GTS features dual electric motors and a 3-cylinder gasoline engine that powers an onboard electric generator. The driving range is 360 miles, but 80 miles of those can be all-electric, without need for the generator. The 28-kWh battery is lithium-ion pack that uses nickel, manganese and cobalt for better overall density and higher power output.
Three driving modes
The new Karma Revero GTS has three driving modes, accessible via paddles on the steering wheel. Stealth provides pure-electric, emissions-free driving, while Sustain will turn on the range-extending generator to preserve the battery pack’s power for use when the driver desires. Sport, the third mode, combines output from the battery and the generator to provide maximum accelerative performance.
The Karma Revero has an electric-only range of 80 miles, and a total range of 360 miles.
Lavish interior
The luxurious Revero GTS interior features vented seats, touch-sensitive steering wheel controls and a new electric architecture with faster processors to better support an intelligent driving environment. This includes an enhanced user interface, more energy-efficient touch screens, and active noise cancellation. At the same time, oak and elm interior inlays (from naturally-felled trees in California’s Santa Monica Mountains) provide an organic warmth that’s further complemented by Scottish leather. Karma also allows for plenty of in-house customization of the Revero via one-off paints, unique interior stitching and the like.

New technologies
Several new technologies have been integrated into the 2020 Revero GT and the 2020 Revero GTS. Both are equipped with Karma’s latest in-house inverters, which convert DC current from the battery pack to power the AC drive motors. These inverters also capture AC power from the regenerative braking system to recharge the battery pack.

Both Revero models also benefit from a new single-speed gearbox situated between the twin motors and the inverters. Moreover, redesigned brake calipers reduce drag on the rotors to improve driving range, while new bushings and revised shock valving improve the Revero’s handling. The steering is electrically assisted.
The new 2020 Karma Revero GTS and the 2020 Karma Revero GT are built at a new facility in Moreno Valley, California. The new GTS is priced from $149,950.
