Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the added 0.52%, while the index gained 0.42%.

The best performers of the session on the were Tata Motors Ltd (NS:), which rose 6.86% or 11.10 points to trade at 173.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Yes Bank Ltd (NS:) added 5.84% or 2.50 points to end at 45.35 and Vedanta Ltd (NS:) was up 3.72% or 5.15 points to 144.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Infosys Ltd (NS:), which fell 2.63% or 18.95 points to trade at 702.10 at the close. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:) declined 1.56% or 2.00 points to end at 125.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) was down 1.43% or 7.80 points to 536.35.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which rose 7.23% to 70.45, Tata Motors Ltd (BO:) which was up 7.17% to settle at 173.35 and Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which gained 5.96% to close at 45.35.

The worst performers were Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.63% to 701.85 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.68% to settle at 125.85 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.51% to 535.65 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 941 to 622 and 79 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1312 rose and 1005 declined, while 164 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.22% to 13.3475.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.25% or 3.75 to $1478.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.61% or 0.36 to hit $59.12 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.97% or 0.62 to trade at $64.34 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.14% to 70.800, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 78.8075.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 97.140.
