At the close in NSE, the gained 0.13%, while the index added 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:), which rose 2.20% or 10.75 points to trade at 499.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:) added 1.91% or 43.35 points to end at 2311.40 and Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:) was up 1.98% or 7.25 points to 373.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:), which fell 2.99% or 63.60 points to trade at 2060.45 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:) declined 1.31% or 5.95 points to end at 447.90 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) was down 1.62% or 9.05 points to 552.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.06% to 2310.60, AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 2.01% to settle at 731.95 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.68% to close at 6997.25.
The worst performers were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 2.93% to 2060.70 in late trade, Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which lost 2.06% to settle at 66.50 and HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.54% to 551.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 934 to 637 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1397 fell and 999 advanced, while 161 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.02% to 14.5975.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.19% or 2.75 to $1467.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.03% or 0.61 to hit $58.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.69 to trade at $63.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.33% to 71.032, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 78.6225.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 97.585.
