Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the gained 0.34% to hit a new 5-year high, while the index added 0.27%.

The best performers of the session on the were Societe Generale SA (PA:), which rose 3.41% or 0.92 points to trade at 27.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:) added 2.56% or 3.65 points to end at 146.35 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:) was up 1.57% or 0.77 points to 49.87 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:), which fell 2.52% or 0.376 points to trade at 14.524 at the close. TechnipFMC PLC (PA:) declined 2.20% or 0.42 points to end at 18.66 and Peugeot SA (PA:) was down 1.68% or 0.41 points to 24.00.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Aperam SA (AS:) which rose 10.74% to 27.21, ALD SA (PA:) which was up 6.56% to settle at 13.64 and CGG SA (PA:) which gained 4.09% to close at 2.394.

The worst performers were Imerys SA (PA:) which was down 4.80% to 36.06 in late trade, Lagardere SCA (PA:) which lost 4.70% to settle at 19.48 and Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:) which was down 3.01% to 26.13 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 293 to 286 and 85 ended unchanged.

Shares in Safran SA (PA:) rose to all time highs; rising 2.56% or 3.65 to 146.35. Shares in BNP Paribas SA (PA:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.57% or 0.77 to 49.87. Shares in CGG SA (PA:) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.09% or 0.094 to 2.394.

The , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.85% to 12.77.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.50% or 7.45 to $1491.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.66% or 0.95 to hit $56.28 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.87% or 1.18 to trade at $61.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1065, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8605.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 97.775.
