Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:) added 4.25% or 77.0 points to end at 1889.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:) was up 3.71% or 81.0 points to 2264.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:), which fell 3.81% or 11.0 points to trade at 278.0 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:) declined 2.13% or 174.0 points to end at 7990.0 and Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:) was down 2.09% or 11.0 points to 515.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2349 to 1176 and 219 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.72% or 0.40 to $55.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.14% or 0.70 to hit $60.87 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.00% or 0.05 to trade at $1495.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.03% to 108.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 120.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.575.
