“When you’re the father and your son’s entire career is dependent on that, they own you.”

That’s what Donald Trump Jr. said Wednesday night on Fox News about Hunter Biden and nepotism, generating a collective facepalm by many on the internet.

The president’s son made the comments during an interview with Sean Hannity, as he again made unsubstantiated claims of corruption against former Vice President Joe Biden’s son.

Trump Jr. is executive vice president of the Trump Organization — his father’s company — and previously appeared as a judge on his father’s show “The Apprentice.” His previous comments concerning Hunter Biden and nepotism led some to say he lacked self-awareness, or at least a sense of irony.

Wednesday’s remarks drew much of the same from online pundits.

“The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah weighed in as well Wednesday night, and admitted it was concerning that Hunter Biden’s family ties likely helped his business dealings. “And I understand why a lot of people would complain about that,” Noah said. “What I don’t understand is why these people are complaining about that.”
