Meanwhile, Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:) added 4.57% or 11.70 points to end at 267.60 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.75% or 9.55 points to 556.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 22.71% or 9.40 points to trade at 32.00 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 12.18% or 32.35 points to end at 233.15 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 6.18% or 85.50 points to 1298.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.72% to 1248.50, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.71% to settle at 556.60 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which gained 0.99% to close at 6783.75.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 22.80% to 32.00 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 6.30% to settle at 1294.60 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which was down 5.50% to 256.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1075 to 454 and 98 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1721 fell and 648 advanced, while 135 ended unchanged.

USD/INR was up 0.63% to 71.085, while EUR/INR rose 0.69% to 77.5150.
